Before the rental

What are your driver license requirements?

A valid drivers license in Latin script is required.

How old do I need to be to rent a car in the Faroe Islands?

The minimum age for driving in the Faroe Islands is 18.

Do I need a credit card?

You either need a credit card or a debit card with sufficient funds to secure a deposit payment upon arrival.

What are the accepted methods of payment for the rental?

We accept the following payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club, JCB, VPAY.

Is a car rental deposit required?

A deposit is required at pick up to secure funds for potential toll roads, refueling shortages upon return, or damages incurred during the rental period.

How do I change or cancel my reservation?

Please request changes or cancellations by sending us an email on car@62n.fo.

What if my flight is delayed?

In the event of a flight delay, kindly notify us via email at car@62n.fo. We’ll ensure your rental car is reserved for you. However, please be aware that an after-hours surcharge will be applicable if pick-up occurs outside our regular office hours (08:00-21:00).

Can I return my rental vehicle if the 62°N Office is closed?

If you need to return your car outside our office hours, simply drop the keys into our designated drop-off box located just outside our office. Be sure to take photographs of the car after parking, as our staff will conduct a vehicle inspection in your absence.

Can I pre-pay for fuel?

Yes, you can pre-pay for fuel to avoid refueling upon return. The fee for this service is DKK 800,- for a passenger car.

Do you offer unlimited mileage?

Unlimited mileage is included in the rate for all vehicle types.

How do I pay for toll roads?

Toll roads will be deducted from the deposit payment.

What documents do I need to present when picking up the rental car?

We only need to see a valid drivers license upon arrival.

During the rental

Can I extend the rental period if I decide to stay longer?

To request an extension of your rental, please get in touch by sending us an email at car@62n.fo, or call us at +298 733 510

What should I do if I get in an accident in a rental car?

You need to report the incident to local authorities by calling 112. Secondly, you must report the incident to our staff.

What should I do if my rental car breaks down?

If your car experiences a breakdown, rest assured that we’ll dispatch assistance promptly.

Do I need to refuel the vehicle before returning?

Unless you’ve purchased the pre-paid fuel service, you must return the vehicle fully fueled.

After the rental

When will I receive the final invoice?

Our goal is to send out invoices within 24 hours after your vehicle is returned. If you haven’t received your invoice, please contact us as there may be an issue with the email address we have on file.

When can I expect my security deposit to be refunded after returning the rental vehicle?

We settle balances 24 hours after your vehicle is returned. However, the timeframe for returning the security deposit is contingent upon your bank, typically taking up to one week.

How do I return the rental car, and what are the drop-off procedures?

Please park your car at P3 in one of our parking spots, and return the car keys to our office at the car rental centre. We advise taking photographs of the car once parked.

Is there a fuel policy I need to adhere to when returning the car?

The car needs to be fully fueled upon return, unless the pre-paid fuel service was purchased prior to renting.

What happens if I return the car late?

If you return the car later than agreed, an additional rental day may be added to the invoice.
