The 27th ERVO Meeting is Organised by the Following Organisations

Havstovan is the Marine Research Institute of the Faroe Islands and is an independent advisory institution under the Ministry of Fisheries.
Havstovan conducts research on the Faroese marine environment and its living resources, provides advice to authorities on the sustainable exploitation of fish stocks, collects data from surveys conducted in collaboration with the fishing industry or onboard research vessels, participates in international cooperation, including within ICES, and disseminates research findings.
Havstovan’s activities specifically include stock assessments of Faroese demersal fish stocks, pelagic fish in cooperation with neighboring coastal states, and other fish stocks of Faroese interest.
Additionally, Havstovan carries out studies of the marine environment and all factors that enhance understanding of the influences on fish resources. This includes oceanographic measurements of physical and chemical conditions in the sea, such as seabed mapping, current measurements, seismic studies, and related activities.
All research conducted by the marine research vessel Jákup Sverri contributes to knowledge about the marine environment.
Havstovan works towards the sustainable management of fish stocks and ecosystems, with the aim of ensuring enduring income from fisheries for the Faroe Islands.

The European Research Vessels Operators (ERVO) is an organisation of research vessel operators that promote the co-ordination of small to medium-sized research vessels in Europe.
It was founded in 1999 as a complement to the Ocean Fleets Exchange Group (OFEG) (see www.ofeg.org ) and International Ship operators Meeting (ISOM) (see www.irso.info ), both established a few years earlier.
ERVO is an open, member driven, non-profit group of European research vessel operators, and therefore does not report to any other group, organization or authority.
The ERVO general assembly is the governing body of ERVO and consists of all ERVO members present at the annual ERVO meeting.
ERVO membership is open to all European research vessel owners/operators from governmental organizations. New members will be formally accepted at the annual ERVO meetings.
EurOcean (see www.eurocean.org ) and the EUROFLEETS project(s) (see www.eurofleets.eu) are considered as ERVO partners.
Private research vessel operators/companies, insurance companies, naval architects, policy makers, classification societies, scientists and other interested parties are welcome to attend, as guests, at the annual ERVO meetings
