The Faroe Islands is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The islands has a unique nature, a long and fantastic history and a rich culture life. The ever changing weather with rain, fog, warm and sunshine are all elements to a breathtaking experience and meeting the hospitality is very much a part of it.
Birds, sheeps, unspoiled nature and remote villages. Silence
just disturbed by the noice from at nearby waterfall or the
sea.
On this self-drive vacation we suggest the following for a 8 days
stay.

PROGRAM:
Day 1
Upon arrival a representative from 62N will welcome you in the
airport and you will have your rented car and a map over the Faroe
Islands.
First stop is only some 200 mieters down the road - where you will stay at 62N airport hotel - after check-in we suggest you explore the island with a tour to Sørvágur, Bøur and Gásadalur - from which you will have a fantastic view over Tindholmur and Mýkines.
62N airport hotel*** has an international kitchen, where you
also have the oppertunities to experience Faroese specialities
(depending of season)
Day 2
Today tour goes to Eysturoy via Streymoy, where you on the
north/west side will find the village Gjógv.
On the way there you will pass the first subsea tunnel, which on the deepest spot is more than 105 meters under sea level - then to Vestmanna where you have the oppertunities by boat to see the most popular attraction on the Faroes the birdcliffs north of the village. The boat trip is approx. 2 hours.
From Vestmanna to Kvívík for at stop to see the viking
settlements.
The trip continues over Streymoy - crossing "the bridge over the
Atlantic" for Eysturoy - futher to Eiði where you can see the
famous rock formations known as the "giant and the old hag" and
also Slættaratindur (882 meters), the highest mountain on the Faroe
Islands.
Enjoy the next two nights at the unique Hotel Gjáargarður** in
Gjógv.
Day 3
We suggest a trip to Tjørnavík - a walk along the beach where you
might find remainings from the vikings, as this is the place where
the viking settled first in the Faroes.
On the return it is a must to stop in Saksun to see the church
and the farm "Dúvugarður", which today is a museum.
Day 4
Today's tour goes fra Gjógv to Klaksvík - on the way there you will
pass Oyndafjørður and just before the village take the time to see
the Roling Stones. From Oyndafjørður to the island Borðoy through
the second subsea tunnel - where you in the bottum will see the
fantastic glass paintings of Tronður Patursson.
Next two nights at Hotel Klaksvík***
Day 5
Explore the Northern islands - first to the northern most village
Viðareiði, where - if you are fit - you can climbe the mountain
north of the village to the top of the world hightest promontory.
On the top you will have a excelent view over Fugloy, Svínoy,
Borðoy and Kunoy.
From Viðareiði to Kunoy for a walk in the very nice plantation. Then to Klaksvík to see Christianskirken, the church in Klaksvík - we think the most beautiful church on the islands.
Day 6
On the way to Tórshavn we suggest a stop in Leirvík to see the
viking settlements there.
This day is for own disposition - we suggest you to explore the
smallest and most cosy capital in the world.
Next two nights at a hotel after own choice: Hotel Hafnia****/Hotel

on two nights at Hotel Streym)
Day 7
A full day excursion to the island of Nólsoy - just 20
minutes away from Tórshavn - you will discover an island totally
different from the 2010 Europe - you will travel several decades
back in time. Take the oppertunity to discover the island together
with on of the local guides.
The island has the largest colony of storm petrels - but these birds are only possible to see a night time.
The light house there has on of the largest lens which is more
that 3 meter in diameter and the weight is over 4 tonnes.
Day 8
Explore Tórshavn; a walk through the old part of Tórshavn "á
Reyni", Tinganes and the old fort Skansin - the tour can also be
done with a local guide.
In the afternoon we suggest a tour to Kirkjubøur (20 min. drive) - the old cultural centre of the Faroes. Visit the roughly 900-year-old Roykstovan, where the King's yeoman still lives after 17 generations; Ólav's church from AD 1111, named aftger King Olav the Holy. This church is the oldest church in the Faroes, and is still in use. See the ruins of St. Magnus Cathedral, which is regarded as one of the largest cultural attractions in the Faroes.
In the evening you will drive towards the airport and stay the
last night at 62N airport hotel***.
Day 9
The tour has come to an end and you are going back home - hopely
full of many fantastic experiences from our 18 small islands in the
North Atlantic.
