Every Saturday from 12.45 - 19.00

Pick up at the bus terminal at 12.45

Price: € 81 / DKK 598,- per person incl. bus and guide

This hiking trip begins from the village of Tjørnuvík and ends at Saksun.

Tjørnuvík, the densely settled village is a very beautiful and charming part of the Faroe Islands. The place has a beautiful lagoon surrounded by sand in the fjord. The tall mountains give the area an air of mystery, but not least unimaginable beauty. The fjord used to be a good natural harbour, but after a heavy storm in the 1600s, the fjord was blocked with sand.

On this hike we have a view of Slættaratindur and Gráfelli, which - with their respective heights of 880 and 856 meters - are the two tallest mountains in the Faroe Islands. We also have a view of Eiði and the characteristic rock pillars, Risin and Kellingin (Giant and Witch).

Bus tour in Tórshavn and Kirkjubø

Mondays 08.50- 13.00

Pick up at Hotel Føroyar at 08.50, or at the bus terminal at 09.00

Price: € 54 / DKK 398,- per person incl. bus, guide, hot drinks and pastries at Roykstovan

Kirkjubøur is the historical heart of the Faroes. The little village is located on the south west coast of Streymoy and offers a stunning view of the islands Hestur and Koltur. In the Middle Ages it was the Faroese Episcopal See, which made it the country’s spiritual and cultural hub.

On this unique excursion we will have a guided tour in the old city of Tórshavn, which is quite possibly the world’s smallest capital, with the most charming houses and eco-friendly grass roofs, and then drive up across beautiful mountains, past the village Velbastaður clinging to the steep slopes.

The bus trip is both scenic and informative. We will visit the enigmatic Magnus Cathedral, built around the year 1300 by Bishop Erlendur, the St. Olaf’s Church and the Kirkjuböargarður estate farmhouse (Roykstovan), a stave house dating back to the turn of the first millennium, said to be the world’s oldest inhabited wooden house. To round off the visit, there will be hot drinks and pastries in the atmospheric Roykstovan.

Bus tour to Saksun

Fridays 12.50 - 17.00

Pick up at Hotel Føroyar at 12.50, and at the bus terminal at 13.00

Price: € 54 / DKK 398,- per person incl. bus and guide

This tour to Saksun starts in Tórshavn. Saksun is a picturesque village at the bottom of what was once an inlet surrounded by steep mountains. The inlet formed a deep tranquil natural harbour. However, a storm blocked it with sand and created the lake you will see below the village instead of the old inlet. There is an old farm Dúvugarður, which predates the 17th century which offers a glimpse of how the Faroese lived in the old days. Before leaving you will also see the Saksun church built in 1858.

Our next stop will be Hvalvík village. The name means ‘whale bay’ and is located in a valley on Streymoy’s east coast, near another village called Streymnes. You will have a chance to see Hvalvík church, which is the oldest in the Faroe Islands. And we will look out to sea, only 10-20 meters off the shores of Hvalvík you will spot the wreck of an old wooden ship.

On the way back, we will take the high mountain road Oyggjarvegurin for incomparable views.

Bus tour to Gjógv

Sundays 08.50 - 14.00

Pick up at Hotel Føroyar at 08.50, and at the bus terminal at 09.00

Price: € 67 / DKK 498,- incl. hot drinks and pastries at Guesthouse Gjáargarður

The village Gjógv is nestled on the outermost north-eastern tip of Eysturoy, the second largest island in the Faroes.

On our way East we will go for a walk on the bridge connecting the islands Streymoy and Eysturoy, pass the imposing summits of Slættaratindur (882 metres) and Gráfelli (857 metres), the tallest mountains in the archipelago, located between the villages of Eiði and Gjógv.

Gjógv is best known for its picturesque scenery dotted with multi-coloured old house built around its vital natural harbour, which lies protected in the gorge that has given the village its name, Gjógv means gorge in Faroese. It is a fitting name; the harbour carved by the sea was the village’s lifeline before the arrival of modern roads.

This is a very small village – approx. 30 people live in Gjógv nowadays, but it attracts many visitors, both foreigners and locals, who are seduced by its romantic tranquillity. Gjógv is the perfect spot for a leisurly stroll, and we will explore the little village before heading to its charming guesthouse, Gjáargarður, for lunch.

Price: € 67 / DKK 498,- per person incl. bus, guide, hot drinks and pastries at the atmospheric Garðahús in Søldarfjørður

Enjoy a unique home visit

This is a very unique tour that starts in Tórshavn and heads out along the beautiful mountain road above Tórshavn called Oyggjarvegurin, literally the ‘Island Road,’ and over the Norðradalsskarð mountain pass, from where you can see the islands of Koltur and Hestur.

Then we continue to Kollafjørður, which is the longest village in the Faroe Island and is located on Streymoy’s east coast. ‘Fjørður’ means fjord or inlet in Faroese and the village Kollafjørður contours the fjord, so it stretches along nearly 10 kilometres, in spite of its small size. The characteristic parish church in Kollafjørður dates from 1837.

The tour continues over the bridge that connects Streymoy and Eysturoy, which is, in fact, the only bridge across the North Atlantic. After crossing we drive past a few small villages on our way to Søldarfjørður, where we will stop for hot drinks and pastries at the cosy 19th century country home “Garðahúsið”. The Village Søldarfjørður is part of a chain of villages stretching along the entire east side of the Skálafjørður inlet on Eysturoy. The drive to Garðahúsið takes around 1 hour and gives you the possibility to see most of Streymoy and Eysturoy, which are they main Islands on the Faroe Islands.

Garðahús is a private home and the hosts Jákup & Lena live in this beautiful home. Jákup and Lena open their beautiful home for home visits and if you want a truly unique experience, this is a tour for you. You experience the beautiful landscape in Eysturoy and Streymoy and you meet the locals, which makes this tour both scenic and historical.
